Dominant win moves Alabama back into No. 1 spot in NCAA 1...

Alabama moves back to No. 1, Clemson drops one spot to No. 2 and a new team takes over at No. 130 in the latest USA TODAY Sports college football re-rank.

The Crimson Tide regain their seat at the top of the Football Bowl Subdivision after dismantling Vanderbilt in a 59-0 win. Clemson did its part, eventually pulling past a pesky Boston College team, but Alabama earns a return to No. 1 after briefly ceding the top seed to the Tigers.

The back of the end of the top 25 is a disaster zone. Five new teams sit between No. 19 and No. 25 in the new re-rank, including two Auburn and Louisville. Joining the Tigers and Cardinals are unbeaten South Florida and Duke, and an Iowa team that deserves a bump after taking Penn State to the final seconds on Saturday night.

And while the good teams get all the attention, a new team has found its way to being No. 130 in the re-rank.

Charlotte drops to last after losing to the previous No. 130, Georgia State. Congratulations to Charlotte, I guess.

New to the top 25: Auburn, South Florida, Duke, Louisville and Iowa.

Out of the top 25: Oregon, Toledo, Florida State, Maryland and Vanderbilt.

Von Miller's 'handiwork' included one very co...

ORCHARD PARK - It was a good-natured act of one-upmanship.

And had it occurred on a playground somewhere in America, Von Miller and Tyrod Taylor would have shared a good laugh.

Actually, they did share a laugh but in the end, only Taylor was smiling.

With under eight minutes to play in Sunday’s showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos at New Era Field, Miller, Denver’s star pass-rusher, forced an incompletion on third down near midfield and landed on top of the Bills quarterback.

Extending a hand to help Taylor up, Miller pulled his hand away leaving Taylor hanging. The two friends chuckled over Miller’s old-school "too slow'' prank played by teen-age boys everywhere and your silly uncle Morty.

The referee didn’t see it that way, flagging Miller for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The 15-yard penalty allowed the Bills to run off 10 more plays and burn more than four more minutes of clock, leading to Stephen Hauschka’s fourth field goal of the game and a two-score lead of 26-16.

More critically, Denver was forced to burn all of its timeouts, essentially ending any chance it had of coming back to win. All on account of Miller’s ill-timed “dis.’’

“I just wasn’t thinking,’’ said Miller, who finished with six tackles, a sack, two QB hits and two tackles for loss. “I don’t even do anything with quarterbacks but I know Tyrod and we were kind of laughing and joking through the whole game. On that play, I just made a very crucial mistake at a vital time.’’

In other words, the joke was on him.

“Me and Von came out the same year (in the draft) and we’re good friends and we were laughing on the field,’’ Taylor said. “I honestly didn’t know it was going to be a flag. Like I said, we were laughing (about it). It ended up working in our favor. I guess a bad play by him at the time, pretty sure he wishes he could have that back.’’
